Hello from Spencer’s Treasures,
Another year has gone by and lots of toys are still being delivered to the Hospitals thanks to the Hopkins family!! We really appreciate them stepping up and helping us continue “The JOY of a Simple TOY!” in Southern California.
We continue to refill the chests here in Kansas City at Children’s Mercy Hospital and have managed to keep the toys coming in thanks to the DeSoto Rotary Club which Spencer’s Grandma Carol is a member of. We Thank them for their continued support! (as well as others in and around the Kansas City area)
Thanks to all of you that have continued to volunteer, organize toy drives, and make monetary donations to our organization. Your continued support has help us touch the lives of thousands of children for the past eight years. Community support has been a huge part in our success.
On a personal note we have another new Treasure!! Tabatha Ashley Stockton and her twin, Tawnie Brooke, were born on August 6th 10 weeks prior to their due date. Sadly, Tawnie was only 1.5 lbs and her lungs weren’t fully developed and two days later she passed away and joined her older brother Spencer. Our family now has two special Angels to watch over us.
I’m sure this comes as a surprise to most as it was for us too, but for some reason we’ve had to endure another loss and strengthen our faith. (I really wasn’t up for the challenge, but so far we all have managed)
Spencer’s Treasures has been a great healing outlet and has helped and touched so many other children’s lives while keeping Spencer’s Spirit alive so there is good that comes from bad.
I want to thank everyone for their patience during the past months. The transition with another baby has definitely kept me from returning calls or answering emails in a timely manner, but I do get the messages and will respond as quickly as I can.
We wish all of you a Wonderful Happy and Healthy 2009 as we are looking forward to a New Year and new beginnings!
