Life Division’s Food Festival Support’s Spencer’s Treasures
The Life Communication Committee and the Life Division had another successful Food Festival in 2007!
Our charity of choice was Spencer’s Treasures, based in Huntington Beach, California. Spencer’s Treasures was founded in 2000 in memory of five year old Spencer Stockton. Spencer loved to buy a toy after each of his appointments while being treated for a brain tumor. He lost his battle, but his love for a toy lives on!
Spencer’s Treasures donates wooden treasure chests filled with small sized toys to areas of hospitals that care for children with life-threatening illnesses. The children pick a toy from the chest after their procedures.
Not only did we have a very successful bake sale, basket raffle, jeans days’ sale, but we also had a great toy drive! Our associates in the Life Division filled three wooden treasure chests with small toys which will be placed in hospitals around Orange County! Without everyone’s contributions this would not have been possible!
On January 30, 2008, the LCC presented Dean Hopkins from Spencer’s Treasures with a check in the amount of $10,731.81. This is the most successful fundraiser yet!
